Prime Minister of Mongolia N. Uchral met with Russian Minister of Energy Sergei Tsivilev on September 3, 2026, on the sidelines of the 11th Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok to discuss ensuring stable supplies of fuel and petroleum products to Mongolia. Minister Sergei Tsivilev noted that despite restrictions imposed by the Russian Government on petroleum product exports amid uncertainty in global energy markets, Russia has continued to prioritize stable and uninterrupted supplies to Mongolia in line with the friendly relations and legal arrangements between the two countries. He said Russia is working closely with the Government of Mongolia and will continue cooperation under the intergovernmental agreement to reliably meet Mongolia’s demand for petroleum products and maintain stable supplies. Minister Tsivilev also proposed establishing a joint working group to study measures to reduce air pollution in Ulaanbaatar and introduce clean energy sources. The heads of Rosneft and Gazprom assured Prime Minister N. Uchral that they would maintain stable supplies of fuel and petroleum products to Mongolia in accordance with decisions of the Russian Government. Prime Minister N. Uchral thanked the Russian side for maintaining stable supplies of petroleum products, which are essential to Mongolia’s economic and energy security amid the challenging geopolitical situation. He also reaffirmed Mongolia’s support for the natural gas pipeline project through Mongolian territory, describing it as strategically important, and requested continued Russian support to accelerate negotiations on agreements for the next stage of the project and facilitate its implementation. The two sides also exchanged views on further strengthening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Mongolia and Russia and expanding cooperation in the fuel and energy sector as the two countries mark the 105th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations this year.
