Power Purchase Agreements have been signed with the winning bidders in Mongolia’s first competitive auction for renewable energy projects.
The National Dispatching Center signed the agreements with companies selected to develop 220 MW of solar power capacity and a 135 MW/440 MWh battery energy storage system across five provinces. The projects are expected to be operational before the peak winter demand season.
The Prime Minister said the auction reflects growing investor confidence in Mongolia’s market and demonstrates the Government’s commitment to opening the energy sector to greater competition and private investment.
The auction attracted interest from 115 domestic and international companies. Following technical evaluation, 19 qualified bidders competed by offering lower electricity prices, with five winning bidders selected.
